IN THE TOWN i ' i j' ALGONA IMPLEMENT COMPANY In March, 1943, Walt and Deb Hall, in partnership, opened Algona Implement Company on the corner of State and Jones Streets. In October, 1947,they moved the business to its present location on Commercial Street. Wall and Deb sell and service International Harvester Machinery and Trucks, and,are authorized dealers for Mozall Lawn Mowers, West Bend and Scott Boat Motors, and Blue Star, Crown, Speed Liner, and Pabst Boats. They also retail in brands of greases and oils, plus various oilier farm supplies. Algona Implement Comany has four departments: Parts Department — Glenn Snider and Earl Cooper: Service Department — Jim Baker, Dick Boyken and: Vernie Bunkofske; Warehouse Department '— Harry Alt and Alvin Coss; and Office — Mrs Mildred Carney; all of whom work closely together to provide farmers in this area with the finest in service and quality. During the sixteen years Algona Implement Company has been in business, they have proved their motto: "Service, is 'our Most Important Product." The "mystery farm photo", and the "business place photo" will help business folks in town and their neighbors in the country to become better acquainted. BUSINESS ....IN THE COUNTRY ARCHIE ELBERT FARM - EAST OF ALGONA This week's Upper Pes Moines Mystery Farm, owned by Mrs Demaude Lalhrop, is operated by Mr and Mrs Archie Elbert, The farm, consisting of 160 acres, is located 5 miles easjt on Highway 18. Mr Elbert ryins a general type farming operation-characteristic of the kind of oper; ation found in this area, He follows a planned rotation program, and also,maintains 200 hogs and about 20 cattle. •'.','•.'.'• ' l - "*• Before moving to his present location, Archie Jived 2 miles west of the same farm with his father, He waTm the JJayy for 3 Vis years Curing World War II, and upon his return i n 1946, WPFked his father's farm with Jhis younger brother until 19§0, At this time Archie and us Older brother, Mijce., txchftjjged farming operations, Archie and h»* family have been living since, __ <> Archie Albert and his wife, Rose, were married In April, 1947,, They have five children, Michael, 11; Eileen, 10; Tom, 7; Joan, 4; and Diane, 2, The Elberts are members of St. Cecelia's Church in Algona. Archie states that all of the buildings on the farm have been built since approximately 1942 by Mrs Lathrop. There have been no changes in* the farm since the above picture was taken.
