It will be called VORTEX, says KI director of marketing Reggie Whitehead. The name was chosen because the ride, like a vortex or whirlpool, will make riders feel like they're completely under the control of outside forces, said Whitehead. VORTEX will include 3,200 feet of track, a 148 foot lift hill followed by a 138-foot drop, two vertical loops, one corkscrew, one boomerang turn and a 360 helix turn at the end, all taken at speeds in excess of 50 mph. The 212-min-ute ride will accommodate 1,600 riders an hour. Arbus photo exhibit The magazine photographs of Diane Arbus will be featured at the Indianapolis Museum of Art from July 22 to August 31.

The exhibition "Diane Arbus: Magazine Work, 1960-1971" includes 90 images originally published in magazines such as Esquire and Harper's Bazaar. Arbus developed a forceful and idiosyncratic style of portraiture which is at once enthralling and distressing. Her subjects included Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, stripper Blaze Starr, Charles Atlas and Mae West at 71. Arbus committed suicide in 1971 at the age of 48. The Indianapolis Museum, 1200 W.

Tuesday through Sunday. Grable bio not nice Add Pin-Up: The Tragedy of Betty Grable to the seemingly endless list of books that lead readers through the muck and mire of late idols' lives. In the biography slated for publication in October, writer Spero Pastos paints the star of the '30s and '40s as a drinker who mistreated her daughters and who was a victim of unhappy love affairs with Artie Shaw, George Raft, Tyrone Power and others.
