CHERRY-CHEESE ROLLS 20 Maraschino cherries 2 l»ngthwt«* thin »IIe»t enriched bread (cut from un- sliced sandwich loaf) 1 (3 ounce) package cream 'cheese 2 tablespoons chopped , Maraschino cherries, 2 tablespoons soft butter " . " Combine cream cheese and chopped cherries. Spread each slice of bread with butter, then with cherry-cheese mixture. Cut each slice in equal halves crqsswise. 1 Place a row of five cherries across width of each.half slice of bread, pressing cherries firmly together end to end. Roll each half slice of bread as for jelly roll, starting at cherry 'end, being careful to keep first turn firm and cherries in place. Wrap each roll in waxed paper, twisting ends of paper. Place on a flat surface so that roll rests ,on last turn of bread; chill. To serve: unwrap and cut each roll into 6 slices. Yield: 24 Cherry Cheese Bolls. CREAM CHEESE-DEVILED HAM RIBBON SANDWICHES 1 lengthwise slice whole wheat bread (cut from unsliced 1 Vt pound loaf) 3 tablespoons soft butter 1 (3 ounce) can deviled ham 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese 2 lengthwise slices enriched bread (cut from unsliced pound loaf) Combine deviled ham and cream cheese. Spread each slice of bread with butter. Spread half of the cheese-ham mixture on 1 slice of enriched bread, top with whole wheat sb'ce, buttered side down. Spread remaining mixture on whole wheat bread. Top with second slice of enriched bread, buttered side down. Wrap ui waxed paper, twisting ends of paper; chill. To serve: unwrap and cut sandwich loaf crosswise into 16 sections. YELLOW BUTTER CAKE 2 8 x IV4 inch round cake pans OR 2 9 inch round cake pans '/* cup (1 stick) butter 1 Vi cups sugar" 3 eggs . 2 cups sifted cake flour _ 375 degree preheated oven 25-30 minutes % teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons baking powder V* cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla Cream butter, Add sugar and mix \yell. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour with salt and baking powder and add alternately with the milk. Add vanilla. Pour into 2 buttered and floured cake pans. Bake in a 375 degree preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. When done remove from cake pans and cool on wire cake racks. Cut 2 - 9 inch cake layers in half crosswise. Spread chocolate filling between each layer-and on top and sides of cake. - Garnish top of cake with slivered Brazil nuts or almonds.
