Moeller continued its hold on No. 1 in Class AAA while McNicholas held on to its No.

6 ranking in Class AA. One former poll champion has replaced another former title-holder atop the small-school state football rankings this week. Newark Catholic's Green Wave, the 1973 and 1975 Class A kings in the AP poll, own the small-school lead after Mogadore, the AP champion three of the last five seasons, struggled to a 7-7 tie with Streetsboro last week. Newark Catholic, second a week ago. defeated Coshocton, 21-0, for its fifth straight victory this year to earn 248 points from a state panel of sports writers and broadcasters.

CAFE received 195 points. Mogadore. No 1 the first weeks of this year's ratings, fell to third place in Class A with 1ST. Elyria Catholic in Class AA was the other leader in this week's ratings. unbeaten and untied in five games this season, had 326 points to pace the big schools and led runner-up Centerville (50-0) by 101 points Lakec2 Edward (5-0-0) moved from fifth to third with 1SS points in Cass AAA The No 1 Crusaders walloped previously unbeaten Cincinnati 4S0.

High School Tournament Time Believe it or not. fall high school sports tournaments are just over the horizon. In fact the East Sectional golf tournament begins today at Glenview Golf Course.

The West Sectional golf tournament will be held Thursday at Miami Whitewater Golf Course. In both sectionals, the top four teams in Class AAA and Class AA advance to district tournament as well as the two low scorers from non-qualifying teams. The district tournament will be held at Middletown's Weatherwax Golf Course on Oct. 11. Meanwhile, the girls sectional tennis tournaments will be Thursday and Friday at Western Hills, Princeton and Sycamore High Schools.

Thursday's matches begin at 9 a.m. The top four singles players and doubles teams in both AAA and AA-A will advance to the district tournament which will be held next week. The top two seeded singles players in the Cincinnati AAA sectional at Western Hills are Kathy Rembold of Oak Hills and Amy Bellamah of Ursullne Academy; the Cincinnati AA-A top two seeds are Ashley Hei-man of Seven Hills and Lori Schaen of Wyoming. The top two seeded singles players in the Sycamore AAA sectional are Leslie Corey of Anderson and Holly Spiegel of Sycamore; in the Sycamore AA-A sectional, the top seeds are both from Indian Hill in Tracy Barton and Molly Pof fenberger.
