We all would pray for 30 days with the individual. After the 30 days, the person would get an answer," Morgan said.

"Sometimes, the answer may not have been the one the person was expecting but it always was the right one." The Rev. Paul Miller of Wyoming Presbyterian Church said, "He was a man of great concern and compassion who wanted to help others realize their potential as children of God." Mr. Hilmer was an elder at the church. Miller said Mr. Hilmer often said, "Big boys don't cry, but they need to." Mr.

Hilmer of Wyoming was a businessman who felt a need to get in touch with his spiritual self.

In 1974, Mr. Hilmer closed his architectural firm, Cellarius and Hilmer, to create 1 the Cincinnati Experiment, a group he described as "a fellowship of men who agree to pray for each other daily, asking God to act on the problems we have shared together." A friend, Gus Morgan, said: "He had a 1 special gift of leading the meeting. He was a special man a true Christian man." Mr. Hilmer died Saturday at his home. He was 72.

A 1940 graduate of Cornell University School of Architecture, Mr. Hilmer worked for the Cincinnati architectural firm of Charles F. Cellarius before joining the office of Edwin Bergstrom in Washington, D.C., in 1942 and working on plans for the Pentagon building. After the war, Mr. Hilmer renewed his association with Cel- larius.

The Cincinnati Experiment, which has grown to more than 1,000 members, meets every Monday, Wednesday and Fri-' day during lunch hours at the Dockside restaurant in Norwood. Taft, who is challenging incumbent Democrat Sherrod Brown in the November election, called for a change in state law to require computerization, analyses of campaign contributions and audits of finance reports. "I believe the secretary of state should be more than the custodian of a warehouse full of paper.

It should be his responsibility to monitor and review these campaign reports, not just file them away in a drawer to gather dust," Taft said at a news conference. A spokesman for Brown said computerization is under way. "We've been computerizing our office all along," Dwayne Pielech said. Pielech said Brown, who took office in 1983, placed top priority on comput- etta, OH. Funeral Mass 10 A M.

distinction gomery Rd, Kenwood, Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Mass of erization of the corporation and uniform commercial code divisions. He said the first phase of computerizing the campaign finance division has been completed and that a second phase has begun. "We're in negotiations with a computer company to expand on our current computerization of our campaign reports and include more information that would deal with contributions and itemize that information," Pielech said. Taft displayed copies of computer-generated campaign finance reports provided by the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission.

"One look at these reports will convince you that Ohio is in the Dark Ages when it comes to public disclosure of campaign finances," he said. Taft said newspaper stories about contributions to governor candidate Anthony J. Celebrezze Jr. and State Treasurer Mary Ellen Withrow demonstrated urgency of computerizing campaign data.
