'wi "1 Fa Hi Aggressive Women BV ARTIK'R DARACK Enqulnr TV-Radio Editor HOW SAFE is air travel? This question was asked of Mr. Najeeb Halaby, night before last (Channel 12) and his reply was that It Is much safer than auto travel, which Is hardly le-assuring. WOUC-FM will broadcast the tape of the Lukas Foss Corbett Lecture Monday night at Wilson auditorium. This broadcast will occur tonight from 7:30 to 8:30, and offers the opportunity to hear one of the world's leading musicians talking candidly and subtly about the state of music from the vantage point of a man busy making It what It Is. There Is no substitute for this kind of thing; a major figure who is highly articulate, explaining what it Is like to be in this center of things.

I wish that the perform-a nee Foss gave at the Conservatory campus could be made available also. Improvisation, which Is part of the topic tonight, made up the entire agenda at the Conservatory, where it was illustrated and examined perhaps too technically for general distribution, though you would have a hard time convincing the full house that heard htm delightedly that what it was hearing was difficult WCPO-TV will carry "The Reading Room" beginning this Saturday from 12:30 to 1 p. m. This Is an excellent weekly program designed to stimulate children into reading books. The series Is aimed at the eight to 12 age group, and is produced by the Public Affairs Department of CBS News.

Each Saturday a panel of children will discuss the "book of the week" while the author stands by. Miss Scott Is always glad to hear from her readers and whenever possible will use their questions in her column, but because of the great volume of mail received daily, she cannot answer individual letters. CEORCtNtMiri Mm ml Hunter Approves "WOMEN are basically aggressive in nature!" Jeffrey Hunter asserted. and I like it!" Jeff smiled at my surprise, and went on to explain: "Before marriage It might seem a bit frightening; but to the husband, this quality Is a definite asset. He finds a great deal of comfort in a decisive woman with strength he can depend upon.

"WOMAN is blessed with an lnna sense of propriety. Only when she forgets this does she risk losing her femininity." "What If she becomes too demanding?" I challenged. "A man may consider it a compliment!" was Jeff's answer. "She doesnt demand or expect much of him unless she is really interested!" "What 'Interests' you?" I smiled. "I HAVE ALWAYS been magnetically attracted to women who are athletic I think it is partially because of their appearance." "I saw a girl at a party once 'across a crowded room' as the song goes.

She was tan, dressed simply and wore only light lipstick and eye make-up. She was outstanding in the group and, I thought, beautiful. She is now my wife Dusty." Jeff qualified his opinion of pulchritude somewhat: "I dont mind a new variation in a woman's appearance, occasionally, rm so sympathetic with her hair problems that I even approve of wigs provided they're good ones! The value of any artifice is in its looking natural. The convenience is Just as gratifying for the male, who may want to take his girl sailing in the afternoon and then out In the evening with little time lapse in between. "BIT WE'VE been speaking only of outer beauty," Jeff said more seriously.

"Inner beauty is Just as important but more difficult to capsule. I would say that it is a presence a positive, happy feeling. "It's been said many times, and I think it's true, that beauty is a way of thinking. Emotional experiences Influence a woman's Keep In Trim leg-raising to make it twice as streamlining? Because that exercise imposes too much strain on weak muscles; also it tends to pull the small of the back off the floor, which leads to swayback and a compensatory outcurve of the abdomen. Take beginning exercises from the safety position: POSITION: Lying on back on mat on floor, or on bed with firm mattress; left knee bent, right leg straight down.

ACTION: Ealse right leg straight up In air and lower slowly. As leg is lowered, keep abdominal muscles strongly contracted until the end of the movement. Repeat exercises slowly, three times with each leg, later six times. Count out loud to 10 as leg is lowered. Check off each day on a big calendar at the finish of your exercise period.

In THE NEIGHBORS With Thursday Afternoon Television appearance, too," Jeff went on to say. "I know that when a woman is expecting a child, she takes on more of both inner and outer beauty. It's not that she doesnt always have it; it's Just that it seems to come into focus during that time. "Love can do the same thing, and love affects a man Just as strongly. It may not make him more "handsome' but he doesn't care about that." Golden Cheese Soup Glamour Item On Menu A SOUP with a bit of elegance sets the mood of the whole meal.

Golden cheese soup does it superbly. Though it's basically a condensed canned soup, it takes on a distinctive character because it is thinned with sherry and cream, then topped with seasoned sour cream Just before serving. Such a soup shows off to advantage as the one hot dish of a cold meal, along with a main course of sliced meats and a salad. Add glasses of a red or white wine, such as a burgundy or sauterne, to round out a festive menu. GOLDEN CHEESE SOUP Vt cup dry sherry 1 (11-ounce) can Cheddar cheese soup 1 cup thin cream or rich milk Vt cup dairy sour cream teaspoon celery seed 1 tablespoon finely chopped parsley Blend wine and soup together in saucepan; stir In cream or milk.

Heat slowly until piping hot, stirring now and then. Meanwhile, stir sour cream, celery seed and parsley together. Drop a spoonful on top of each serving of hot soup. Serves 4 or 5. IDA JEAN KAIN ps short a time as three, weeks you'll measure slimmer and feel younger.

With toned muscles you may weigh slightly more but look and feel slimmer than you could with flabby muscles. This letter from a homemaker carries conviction: "I can heartily subscribe to your exercise plan.

Although I have actually put on some weight this past year, all my friends keep asking me what I've been doing to lose! I certainly credit my dally exercisesthose I do on my own, which are the contraction exercises you suggest, and those which I do with the TV program." It takes surprisingly little exercise to maintain tone in the muscles. Just a quarter-hour a day will work wonders, provided you make the figure-controlling muscles the target and hold the contraction. The flabbiest muscles in the midsection are likely to be the group of front musclesthe four pairs of abdominals. Start the toning there with single leg-raising from the flat-on-the-back position.
