1 IVi jm mm tm If i if There was a journey to the bottom of the Earth to Ushuaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world a cruise tq the South Atlantic, Aegean, Adriatic and Mediterranean and excursions via supersonic jet, super-sleek ship and super-lethargic donkey My 1989 travels, which took me some 100,000 miles (to my 96th country), were not so much a continuous journey as a series of memories that I will carry with me forever. Here are my favorites: SIGHT OF NATURE: Argentina's wild and remote land of Patagonia. Here we were immersed in the world of thousands of penguins at the Punta Tombo Penguin Rookery. MAN-MADE SIGHT: Ephesus, a splendor of antiquity. Turkey's ancient marble city of Ephesus might well be the most extensive excavation in the world.

SCULPTURE: The Mustangs of Las Colinas. The world's largest equestrian sculpture consists of nine free-spirited bronzes that appear to be snorting, with nostrils flared, as they splash through a stream of water in the midst of an office complex in Irving, Texas. AIRPLANE: Air France's supersonic Concorde. What finer way to travel than sipping French champagne and munching Beluga caviar, while crossing the Atlantic Ocean at twice the speed of sound? ELEGANT CRUISE: Seabourn Cruise Line's Seabourn Pride. James Bond would love this state-of-the-art cruise ship designed for 212 discriminating passengers.
