We are located in the old Skene Abstract building, southeast corner of the courthouse square. Come and see our work. JOHNSON BALDWIN, Westmoreland Kansas. Gets a Poor Farm but Better School Privileges. Clem Falkenrich and family will move this week to near Moline, Kansas.

Mr. Falkenrich has lived upon his farm on Pleasant Run for the last third of a century. He says that he does not think that he isgetting quite as good a farm as the one he sold to Duncan Sons, but he has in his new location better school privileges. He is within four miles of Moline where there is a good high school and at this distance the older children can drive to and from home. The district school where he is located pays its teacher right along fifty dollars a month and has an eight months' term of school each year.

Mr. Falkenrich is a good citizen and will be missed by the people who know him. The reasons he gives for moying are worthy of consideration. One factor that attracts citizens to many communities is the school advantages that are offered. It is true that there are unfavorable localities where it is difficult to provide for the best of schools, but there are many others where there is a defect in this direction that could be remedied.

The government is solving the problem of bringing every man's mail to within a mile or so of his home. A greater question and one that will be ultimately solved is the one of transporting every child who resides a mile or more from school to a graded one, where enough teachers can be hired to properly teach all the grades needed. It is a fact that is demonstrated by actual experience that in most localities pupils can be hauled to a central school where fewer teachers can be employed for the combined district, less fuel used and other incidental expenses reduced so that the saving will more than pay for the cost of transportation of the pupils to the school In enclosed wagons, and come so nearly reaching every pupil that none would have to walk more than a mile. While Uncle Sam is solving the problem of the rural delivery of the mails, let us solve the more important one the education of the children in the rural districts. It can be done and is being done in a good many localities.

CASTORIA. Bears the The Kind You Have Always Bought Signature of Hf Wahl-Schwandt. Charlie F. Wahl and Miss Clara Schwandt were married at 12 o'clock noon on February 28 at the home of the bride's parents in Sherman township. Rev.

H. S. Bower officiated. About fifty guests were present and a bounteous wedding dinner was served. The groom is a son of Mr.

William Schwandt. Both are excellent young people. The groom is farming one of his father's places, the Elibu McMurry farm. The young couple took a wedding trip to Kansas City and Olathe. The presents were numerous and many of them are very valuable.

China Shower. Miss Mabel Hilton went to Saturday, to be the guest of honor at a china shower that was given in honor of Herman Knitter by a friend and neighbor in Oakland, Mrs. Win. Williams. A shower for the groom is quite a new departure, but no doubt the many beautiful pieces of china which attest to the high esteem of his friends will be highly enjoyed in the new household.

Burgess is the best shoemaker that eyer struck West moreland and they are glad that he has concluded to stay with us. Bears the The Kind You Have Always Bought Signature of Hilt A prominent Pottawatomie township republican was in the office the other day and said that George W. Duncan of that towaship would make a Lood county commissioner. He pointed out the fact that Mr, Duncan has always been a republican of the straightest sect, that he was thoroughly honest and that he had never held a county office. In the redemption of Pottawatomie township from the demo-pop rule, he has always taken a very active part.

His work has been effectual too. There is more Catarrh in this section of the country than all other diseases put together. nd until the last few years was supposed to be incurable. For a great many years doctors pronounced it a local disease and prescribed local remedies and by constantly failing to cure with local treatment, pronounced it incurable. Science has proven catarrh to be a constitutional treatment.

Hall's Catarrh manufactured by F. J. Cheney Toledo, Ohio, is the only constitutional cure on the market. It is taken internally in doses from 10 drops to a teaspoonful. It acts directly on the blond and mucous surfaces of the system.

They offer one hundred dollars for any case it fails to cure. Send for circulars and testimonials. F. J. CHENEY Toledo, 0.

These Mules Brought big Money. Last week. John T. Barr of Pleasant Run sold thirteen head of young mules to Weik Cleiner of Riley. He received an average price of $82 50 for these mule colts, whose average age was 13 months.

These colts were all from Mr. Bair's big jack, George Ray. Mr. Barr would like to undertake to convince anyone interested by using figures of actual sales made that the colts of George Ray have sold for more money than the colts of any other horse or Jack ever brought to Pottawatomie county. Farewell to Falkenrich Family.

Saturday evening, March 3, about forty young folks gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Falkenrich to spend the last social evening with this most hospitable family. The evening was very pleasantly spent in playing innocent games and singing.

But it was with moistened eyes that the crowd gathered around the organ and joined in singing "God be with you till we meet again." There is probably no other family on Pleasant Run that will be missed more in church and social circles than that of Mr. Falkenrich. While we are sad to have them leave we hope that they will be well pleased with their new home. They will take their leave March 6 for Moline, Elk county. A FRIEND.
