(AP)-Two Michigan men have contracted the Russian flu in the first confirmed cases of the virus In the eastern United States, state health officials say. Dr. Norman Hayner, chief epidemiologist for the Michigan Department of Public Health, said Tuesday that cases had been confirmed in a 19-year-old Michigan State University student in East Lansing and a 20-year-old Tecumseh factory worker.

The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta said It was running tests on several possible cases of the Russian flu, but had not received notification of the Michigan cases. Both men got the Russian flu last month, but the cases were not reported until Tuesday be-; cause extensive tests were done to confirm the disease, state officials said.
