E8 THE HAMILTON SPECTATOR riday September 25 1998 LOCAL SPORTS Games 2000 could converge on the Steel City in Ju ly 2000 for the International Olympic Committee sanctioned sporting event Athletes between the ages of 12 and 15 compete The festival is an off shoot of the In ternational Games and is the first of its kind It is meant to cele brate the coming millennium and the Sydney Olympic Games Organizers say the games will go on whether or not they receive provincial help However Ross air general manager of community ser vices said the number of athletes in vited will have to be scaled down be cause of the cost of housing and food irst invited will be those cities which normally participate in the ICG then their twin cities will be invited and then communities from across Canada Any
