ield and Swarthmore College edged the Hornets 2 1 The victory permits Swarthmore the number four seen to advance to me iinais of the NCAA Division III Pennsylvania Southern Region competition against the winner of the Lock Haven (Pa) Eckard (la) match Macwelling Todman was the individual standout for Swarthmore now 8 2 1 as he scored both of his goals The first came 11:05 into the game Teammate Arthur Philpotts passed to Todman who booted it in from the right side of the field into the left hand corner of the LC goal The tide of action shifted for the remainder of the half from one end of the field to the other until late in the half when Todman picked up his his second goal with 39:43 elapsed He took the ball along the left sidelines maneuvered past four Hornet defenders and then LEXINGTON Kim Glidewell scored three touch downs and running mate Ron nie Norman ran for 173 yards and a touchdown as Virginia Military Institute downed the Colgate Red Raiders31 14 in an intersectional game played Saturday afternoon on Alumni Memorial ield VMI celebrated the Hall of ame Game by holding the Colgate running machine which entered the game ranked sixth nationally in rushing to only 203 yards as the Keydets raised its seasonal record to 6 4 as Colgate fell to 4 5 Ronnie Norman Keydet tailback ran for 174 yards on 23 carries establishing a new VMI "seasonal rushing record of 939 yards with one game remain ing Norman moved ahead of Tom record of 792 set in 1968 On Colgate's first possesion of the game quarterback Bruce Basile took the Red Raiders down the field 79 yards in ten plays with Basile taking the ball over from the VMI 19m Jerry added the conversion and Colgate led 7 0 lhe Keydets took the kick off and with the running of Glidewell and Norman moved the ball 70 yards on 13 plays with Glidewell going the final two yards off his right side of the line Rich Tufaro added the extra point and tied the score at 7 7 The key play of the drive 1 came on fourth down and four yards to go as the Keydets punted the ball However Col gate clipped a Keydet and VMI was awared a first down at mid field to keep the drive alive After an exchange of punts the
