Sometimes it was pre-empted entirely. But when it did get on the air even in a shortened version it invariably was one of America's most popular prime-time television Giles To Columbus Cable By STEVE HOFFMAN Enquirer TV-Radio Editor Ron Giles, who created the top-rated "Juvenile Court" on Channel 9 Is leaving WCPO-TVs executive producer post to help create local live programming on Warner Communications' extensive cable system In the Columbus area. His i responsibilities will include 18 daily program hours on "Columbus Alive" on one of the system's 30 channels. He leaves TV 9 and his latest creation, the "In Person" monthly series, June 17.

Giles came here in September, 1974 from WBNS-TV, Columbus. He Is a native of New Boston. A TWO-YEAR funding project, Warner's Columbus system intends to prove that programming systems in metropolitan areas have great investment potential. Warner has 138 systems in the U. S.

Its Columbus system now has a third of a potential 100,000 homes in the city's northwest and far east sectors. Mike Dann, former CBS-TV program chief, Is consultant to the system. One of the three program executives at Columbus, Giles also will serve as a producer along with importees from Houston and New York. His channel will consist of community service programs, utilizing two-way capability. THE SYSTEM is already using new facilities, Including three studios and nine TV cameras.
