Mrs Goodwyn Bergerud called at the Robert Wood home, Friday evening. Mrs George Hix and Mrs Timer Harms visited Mrs Dwigbt Ruse and Mrs Stanley Ruse and Leroy, last Tuesday afternoon. . Mrs Frank Becker and Mrs Harold Lampe, leaders of the Portland Pennies Girl's 4-H. attended a 4-H extension lesson in Alpona, Wednesday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Harold Becker entertained at a supper Monday evening in honor of their guests who are visiting here from Indiana. Others attending the supper, were Mr and Mrs Tom Trenary and Kenneth and Mr and Mrs Bill Trenary and Doyle. Mrs Hazel Carroll, Mrs Donald Ringsdorf and Mrs Victor Fitch were among those calling at the Bernard nnd Charles PhHps home Tuesday. Mrs Donald Ringsdorf and Mrs Victor Fitch went to Algona Wednesday morning, on business and did some shopping. The Portland Progress Club will meet Thursday afternoon. November 17th at the home of Mrs Axel Carlson with Airs Howard Sparks and Mrs A. L. Rasmussen, assistant hostesses. Roll call: My Most Treasured Souvenir. DeBoer attended the State Ti achcrs meeting in Des Moines and his son Larry visited his brother Charles, a junior at Ames University. Mr and Mrs Eldon Dontje and children and Mrs Henrietta Dontie went to Lakota to attend a birthday party in honor of Grandpa Dontje's 91st birthday. Gene Ness of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jim Howson of Rolla, North Dakota, two college friends spent a recent week end here with Terry Roseboro at the Clayton Roschoro home. The boys are all students at Waldorf College. They enjoyed pheasant hunting. Mrs George Thompson attended the funeral of Bob Zweifel. She also attended the wedding of a cousin Patti Patterson recently. 4-Atgona (lo.) Upper Oe« Mointt 'Tuesday, Nov. 15, 1960 Mr and Mrs Larry Meyer of Wellsburg visited recently in the home of Mrs Martha Schroecler and Barbara. Mr and Mrs Fred Dutlon nnd Ellsworth spent a recent weekend in Des Moines. Mrs Dutton attended the state teachers meeting. Music Boosters met at the school for their regular November meeting. The program consisted of a sonsaphono solo by Larry Do Boer, accompanied by Betty IIer7.og; a vocal solo by Jane "Ego.sd.nl. accompanied by Ann Carpenter. During the business meeting plans were made for the Chili and Oyster supper to be served by the Music Boosters on Saturday evening, Dec. 3rd, in the school lunch room. The Music Boosters will also serve lunches at all of the home basketball games. Lunch was ser- ved by Mrs Epko Johnson, Mrs Fred Dutton, Mrs B. E. Gilbertson, and Mrs Roland Smith. Mr and Mrs William Fennemn attended the Iowa - Minnesota game at. Minneapolis and visited over the week end at the homo of their son and wife, the Donald Fenemas in Minneapolis. The American Legion Auxiliary met Nov. 1st. The time of the meeting has been changed to an afternoon time on Dec. Oth and wUl be at 1:45, with a Xmas theme.
