reports This informa tion was learned from A Mc Gonigle vice president and general manager of the big manganese min ing and milling operations on Vegas Wash Road near Boulder City The pilot plant will be an exact rcplica of the 1200 ton plant now in operation on the Manganese Inc property and will enable the metallurgical department to con duct test runs at a fraction of the cost that would be involved in run ning similar tests in the mill itself according to Russ Waters chief en gineer for the company It will operate under the supervision of rancois ischer chief metallur gist with Warner Rinker in charge of actual operation Equipment consists of a crusher rod mill classifier flotation circuit and filter The circuit is designed so that the plant can take the clas sifier overflow product the cone overflow or the conditioner feed from the main plant and continue the process from any one of these stages to the final concentrate All of the pilot plant equipment Is portable so Andrews yesterday called attention to one of the major changes in the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 that may affect organ izations claiming exempt status under the ederal tax laws Section 501 (c) (3) of the 1954 Code exempts from the income tax certain religious charitable scien tific literary and educational or ganizations But the new code con tains a provision specifically requir ing as a condition to exemption that the organization not par ticipate in or intervene in (includ ing the publishing or distributing of statements) any political cam paign on behalf of any candidate for public This provision Commissioner Andrews said is applicable not only to organizations establishing ex emption after the date of enactment of the 1954 Code but to organiza tions already having been granted exemption under section 101 (6) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1939 Violation of the provision results in an organization losing its tax exempt status he said District of fices of the Internal
