and establishes the Reno area a tops in Nevada for job opportunities i The local office found jobs for more than half the people placed by the nine NSES off ices in the state In order to do that Mr Lucas and his staff had to average 117 placements for every day the of fice was open during November That figures up to more than 14 per hour or one placement for every five minutes An apparent discrepancy exists in the report from Carson City showing the activities of each of the nine NSES offices It shows that while the Reno office referred only 2363 people to em ployers 2683 of them were hired' That is because workers referred from other NSES offices in Nevada were sent to the Reno area for placement 4161 Placed in Nevada Throughout the state in Novem ber a total of 4258 workers were referred to employers and 4161 were hired It is a high average and speaks well for the screening done by the NSES staffs The compar ative figures showing the number of referrals and number of place ments made by each office during the month are as follows: A 222222 i 22f Oldsmobile Towed Off ollowing Complaint By City Paint Crews Pauline St John 418 Toano St was seriously injured yesterday morning when the car she was driv ing toward Virginia City hurtled off Geiger grade and crashed after fly ing 75 feet through the air Miss St John was taken to Washoe Medical Center following the accident suffering from a frac tured spine or neck Her com panion in the vehicle Charles Payne Stead Air orce Base was not injured Storey county Sheriff Eddie Ar manino said the car a 1950 Chevro let left the highway about three tenths of a mile from Geiger sum mit It was totally demolished and late yesterday afternoon a the wreckage had not been removed The accident was discovered by Dick Ghiloti a Virginia City resi dent as he was going to work Mr Ghiloti took the couple to Virginia City at 5:30 am and Miss St John was rushed from there to Washoe Medical Center i by sthe Storey county ambulance The car in which the couple hur tledff the steep grade bore North Dakota license plates and was re portedly borrowed by Miss St John The owner has not yet been listed 222 Claiming she suffered scalp and neck burns from a permanent wave machine Mrs Ola Reed of Reno has filed suit for $719720 damages against Eric and Sylvia Jackson operators of the Reno School of Beauty Culture 247 Virginia St The complaint said Mrs Reed visited the beauty parlor August 25 1952 to get a permanent wave She paid $550 in advance and two unidentified operators placed curl ers on her head the complaint continued The scalp began to burn and she asked the beauticians to turn off the wave machine or remove the curlers Before they did so it is alleged Mrs Reed suffered second degree burns and later some of her hair fell out Contending that negligence was responsible for the occurrence the plaintiff is seeking $7500 general damages plus $19720 for medical expenses Attorneys Stanley Brown and Dale Murphy repre sent Mrs Reed The seven Republicans in the Washoe county assembly delega tion yesterday threw their support to Herbert Rountree Lyon county for the post of minority floor leader virtually assuring his election to that post At least three other assembly men have indicated their (Willing ness to go along with the Washoe delegation which means Rountree is assured of at least 10 votes There are 18 Republicans in the which convenes Janu ary 19 The post also been sought by George Hawes of1 Ely serving his second term in the lower chamber as is Rountree' No urther Action Expected Boring Will Issue ormal Statement INER HOMES GUY MARSH COMPANY Dial 3 8300 29 irst St 2 adv Man Who Obey Judge Sent to Jail Arthur Garland Chrisman will spend the next 30 days in the Reno city jail because he neglected to leave town after being ordered to do so by Municipal Judge Guy Walts Garland had been given a float er after being arrested on a drunk charge Yesterday officers who found he was still in town and still intoxicated hustled him: off to serve his sentence y' Woman Says Wave Machine Burned Her Asks Cash Two More Agers Spendjiight At Hotel 4 Young Gains 1 5 Votes Due To Recount Here 1 Sili RENO RILE AND PISTOL CLUB ManTellsHisy Hold Up Plans But Is oiled Broken Hose Red aces Are Result Of Cold Weather Busy November Is Reported By MSES Office Police yesterday ordered a 1947 Oldsmobile towed from its parking place near the St Thomas Aquinas Cathedral on the complaint of city paint crews Officers saia the car had 1953 Nevada license plate No 6439 It was reportedly in a red zone and extended about two feet into the pedestrian crosswalk interfering with the work the paint crews weredoing Drive Carefully!
