6 ft ft NEWS GOOF: Wednesday's 11 p.m. Channel 9 news ran into a snafu. Anchorman Al Schottelkotte voiced a crime story over footage of the Fountain Square lunch-time concert by the Cincinnati Pops orchestra, conducted by Erich Kunzel. No music was heard and no attempt was made to stop the film or apologize for the foul-up. George Plimpton's six participatory hours, four "Primal Man" specials and the eight "Appointment With Destiny" shows.

Fargo's new show, produced by the Osmond Brothers at their new studios near Provo, Utah, gives 19 a three-hour Saturday night country music block, a habit over recent years. There will be occasional special features on 19 as in the past. For example, the monthly special primetime movie will expand to 8-11 p.m. Thursdays in November and December. Such titles as "Great Gatsby," "Hello Dolly," "French Connection" and "West Side Story" will play in that slot.

Starting 6 p.m. Saturday, September 16, three new "Disco Party" hours will air three consecutive weeks. Hosted by disco queen Donna Summer, they are culled from a 15-hour music marathon at New York City's Xenon's night spot. There may be more contemporary shows on 19. The current six-week "Hot Disco" series (7 p.m.

Saturdays) is a Metromedia pilot project, ending this week. The four-week "California Jam" summer shows was probably another trial balloon. WXIX has already agreed to carry 12 Cincinnati Stingers hockey games, opening with the October 20 home game with Birmingham (8 p.m.). Among the three home games will be the Stingers-Russia game December 20. WbW DONNA FARGO BY STEVE HOFFMAN Enquirer TV-Radio Editor Channel 19's fall primetime schedule Is a far cry from Cincinnati's tjiree network VHF stations.

Whereas Channels 5, 9 and 12 sport a considerable batch of new network primelime programs, WXIX-TV Is sticking with just about the same shows it has featured this summer ajid last spring. It may be due to the July, 1978, American Research Bureau (ARB) rating book. Channel 19 compared it to the preceding July's and realized a 23 audience increase in Its net Weekly circulation. ''That's an incredible Increase!" said Sandy Pastoor, 19's program director and a Metromedia Television vice president. She pointed to the 637,000 average households watching 19 each week, according to the latest ARB, and compared it to tfie 518,000 in July, 1977.

THERE IS simple reason why 19's ater-school, before-dinner schedule hardly ever changes. As Pastoor pointed out, the station despite Its UHF channel disadvantage to the three Vs has had the largest audiences with cartoons and similar Ktdvld." Weekdays, the station has but three changes: Splderman" car-tdjms at 4:30 p.m., the new "Love Ex-pertsk' game show at 11:30 p.m wbich began this week and the off-network "Gong Show" at 11 p.m., beginning September 25. The only other major changes aje David Wolper's off-network documentary specials 7-8 p.m. SJtturdays, beginning this week; Donna Fargo's new music show at 8 p.m Saturdays and the new syndl-caled "Jukebox" show at 11 p.m. Saturdays.

Channel 19 hasn't really had ittajor schedule changes at night since Merv Griffin's 90-minute talk-variety took over 9 p.m. weekdays In 1974. The only after-dinner changes of note in recent years has been the 8-9 p.m. slot where "Gunsmoke" is now. Its predecessors have included BOB BEASLEY, former WLW and WLQA deejay, will host WKRC TV12'sNews Expansion Gets Closer "Maverick," "Star Trek" and those Monday night specials.

Pastoor said, "This is the first time we haven't had a major change in the 6-8 p.m. block In a long time." Last fall "Brady Bunch" reruns were at 7:30 p.m. but "Odd Couple" took over the slot last spring. now back on at 6 p.m. and "My Three Sons" at 5:30 p.m.

after a summer hiatus. IT REMAINS to be seen how 19's new product will fare with viewers. "Love Experts" is a suggestive, late-night show, hosted by Bill Cullen. In Wednesday night's 30 minutes the big problems were the boyfriend who gets turned on by his gal's feet and the guy troubled by his fiance's constant laughter, even in the bedroom. England's Twiggy hosts "Jukebox," a contemporary dance-variety show made in her home country.

The 26 original shows Include such guest stars as Bay City Rollers, Electric Light Orchestra, The Hollies, Kikl Dee, Drifters and Leo Sayer. The Wolper specials include the six "Sandburg's Lincoln" programs, HAMILTON WILL be saluted on Channel 9's movies and public service programs today through Sunday. The "Uncle Al Show" staff performed on the Butler County Courthouse stairs Wednesday to kick off the recognition. it EVERETT CORK, WCIN's 7 p.m -midnight deejay, has had guest hosts on his p.m. Monday portion since January.

Keith Pape will leave Channel 9 to become weekend anchorman and weekday reporter beginning Saturday night. A hometown product, Pape was at Channel 9 since last November after eight years at WJKW-TV, Cleveland.

Pape's 'abilities on live TV news was a factor in his succeeding the departed Ed Muller, now in Cleveland, as 12's weekend anchorman. 'KRC's live "EDGE" reports will undoubtedly figure prominently in the station's expanded hour news. News Director Bill Crafton noted that Pape's immediate schedule is indefinite since he reportedly plans to marry Diane Baugh, a former Channel 9 employee, September 23. Last week, Crafton hired a reporter-photographer team from Toledo's WDHO-TV, newsman Rob North and clnematographer Claude Novak. North had previously worked TV-radio In Bridgeport, and Novak TV at Bowling Green.

On Tuesday Crafton will begin a series of meetings here on the hour news concept with Dean McCarthy, credited with originating the "Eyewitness News" concept at ABC-TV's Chicago affiliate and later at other ABC owned-operated stations. -Yet to be named is a weather-caster to succeed Mike Fenwick, now at St. Louis' KTVI-TV. Crafton said he is fairly close to naming someone to handle weekday weather. The same person will do environmental reporting, an added feature in the hour news.
