A few moments cf time and a little awareness of the possible consequences can avert a tragedy such as this. It pays to develop Fire Prevention habits ... not only this week ... but every week of every year ! CHECK: SWEEPINGS - FURNACES - Put all sweepings and rubbish into a metal container outside the store or home. Don't sweep into a pile and then leave it. Before firing up for the winter months, have your heating system and furnace checked. Fixe-box, as vyell as chimney and pipes. FUSES - The electric fuse is a safety measure in your home or place of business. Use the correct size fuse for the job it is called on to handle. LITTER - Piles of assorted litter in basement, attic, or closet are dangerous, potential firehazards. Do not permit accumulations of "junk" on your premises. CIGARETTES - One of the greatest causes of fire in business establishments is the common cigarette "butt." If left to smoulder under a counter, it can cause a disastrous fire. Have plenty of ash trays handy. • CLEANING FLUIDS - Inflammable cleaning fluids, used in the home, are risky, and cause a multitude of fires every year. Be sure the brand you use is a safe one.
