Johnson, whose wife, Bonnie, lives on Route 1, Britt, Iowa, is n member of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Ky. Johnson, Algona, attended Algona High School. —o—- GRAFENWOHR, GERMANY — Army Sgt. Roger D. Johnson, 32. son of Mrs Helen S. Johnson, 618 S. Dodge st., Algona, Iowa, is participating with other personnel from the 3d Armored Division in a field training exercise in Grafenwohr, Germany. The six-week exercise is scheduled to be concluded Oct. 1. Regularly assigned as a re-en- listmont non-commissioned officer in Company B of the division's 33d Armor in Kirch Gons, Sergeant Johnson entered the Army in August 1946. and arrived overseas on this tour of duty in< August 1959. Studer, son of Mr and Mrs Joseph M. Studc'r, Wesley, Iowa, recently participated with other members of the 8th. Infantry Division's 68th Armor in tank crew proficiency tests in Grafen- wohr. Germany. A mechanic in the armor's Company E in Baumholder, Specialist Studer entered the Army in December 1958, completed basic training at Fort Carson, Colo., and arrived overseas in June 1959i The 20-year-old soldier is a 1957 graduate of Titonka High School and was employed by American Airlines before enter- Ing the Army. Drug, Medical Commissions are not on arguments won, but on made. paid sales NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON .PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND PROPOSED FORM OF CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT ~OF THE EXISTING MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHT AND POWER SYSTEM AND THE TAKING OF BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTING SAID IMPROVEMENT. Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the Algona Municipal Utilities of the City of Algona. Iowa, will meet at the City Hall in Algona, Iowa, on the 17th day of October, 1960. at 8 o'clock P. M., at which time and place the said Board of Trustees will consider the adoption of plans, specifications, and proposed form of contract for the furnishing and construction of improvements to the Existing Municipal Electric Light -and Power System of said City, which are now on file in the office of the Secretary of the Board. At said meeting the Board of Trustees will consider any objections to said plans, specifications, and proposed form of contract. At said meeting the said Board of Trustees will also receive bids as follows: 1. For the furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment machinery and skill needed or required to construct complete with cement foundation and cement floor. One (1) Steel Warehouse building thirty-two (32) feet wide, by sixty (CO) feet long, with twleve (12) foot side walls, and Gable type roof. 2. Alternate bid for the furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment, mcahinery and skill needed or required to construct complete with cement foundation and cement floor, One (1) Steel Warehouse building thirty-two (32) feet wide by eighty (80) feet long, with twelve (12) foot side walls and Gable type roof. Said plans and specifications and form of contract may be examined in the office of the Secretary of the Board and copies may be obtained from the Superintendent of the Algona Municipal Utilities. Algona, Iowa. No deposit will be required. Bids shall be made on blank forms furnished by the Superintedent and must be accompanied in a separate envelope by a check certified by a responsible bank satisfactory to the Board of Trustees, and payable to the Board of Trustees, Algona, Iowa, in an amount not less than ten (10) per cent of the amount of bid. as security that'the bidder, if his bid is accepted will enter into contract in accordance therewith and will furnish a performance bond in the full amount of the contract price. No bidder may withdraw a proposal within thirty (30) days alter the date set for opening bids. (53.17) EXCERPTS FROM THE lOWft LAWS Excerpts from Absent voters law: 53.2 Any voler, . . . may on any day not Sunday, election day, or a holiday and not more than 20 days prior to the date of election, make application to the county auditor . . . for an official ballot to be voted at such election. 53.4 Said officers (Auditor) shall furnish to any qualified voter of the county ... blanks on which to make application for such ballot, 53.9 Upon receipt of such application, and immediately after the ballots are printed, it shall be the duty of the auditor to mail such applicant, postage prepaid, such official ballot . . . 53.10 If the voter it absent from the county and requests such application by letter, the auditor may tend him both the application and the ballot at the same timo. 53.11 Such officer (Auditor) shall deliver said ballot to any qualified elector appearing in the office of the auditor . . . and subscribing to the foregoing application not more than 15 days before the date of said election, but said ballot shall be immediately marked, inclosed in the ballot envelope with proper affidavit thereon, and returned to said officer. 53.15 The voter, on receipt of said ballot . . . shall in the presence of the officer administering the oath (notary pubic, etc.) and of no other person, mark such ballot ... but in such a manner that such officer will not know how such ballot is marked. 53.17 The sealed envelope containing the said ballot . . . may bo personally delivered by the voter to the auditor ...
