Several years ago, the Tri-City Broadcasting headed by James G. Lang and operator of WNOP in Newport, acquired an FCC grant to operate a UHF television station in Newport, Ky. TWO YEARS AGO, Lang sold the license to the Overmyer Communications headed by Daniel H. Overmyer, a Toledo native who had parlayed a small investment 20 years ago into a network of industrial warehouses. Overmyer also had acquired licenses to operate television stations in New York, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Houston, San Francisco and Toledo.

Along with this he organized the Overmyer Network as a separate entity. Among the plans for the Overmyer Network was the production of a late-night variety show from Las Vegas which would be in competition with NBC's "Tonight" show and now ABC's latest entry, Joey Bishop. But something happened. Maybe the plans were too big for the budget, but Dan Overmyer got out. First he sold the network as a separate entity to the United Network, a group of Texas and Oklahoma investors.

The new United Network is proceeding with production plans and the Las Vegas Show will debut May 1. UJ Jacobs, Rose et al Third Ave. 25x100 Lot 860 Highpoint Sycamore Twp. Sch. 2-61 Jacobs.

He either has sold or is in the process of selling all but the stations in Toledo, which went on the air last May, and WPIX, a VHF station in New York City. It became obvious during the past year that plans to begin broadcasting, in Cincinnati at least, were strictly on-again, off-again. STILL the station insisted that only the solution Of a few minor problems was preventing it from going on the air. Among the "minor" problems as it turned out was money.
