The next day Halferty's body was found floating out to sea. The coast guard turned out in time to participate in the final stage of the battle and captured a part of the liquor. Washington, April 10 (AP) Ths American Government's reply to formal representations of the Canadian Government over the sinking of the liquor-runner I'm Alone, by a coast guard patrol boat probably will be handed to the Canadian Minister lats this week. Secretary Henry L. Stimson said today that the department was preparing a reply to the Canadian representations. He contradicted newspaper reports indicating that the Canadian note was of a truculent nature.

The representations were temperate, the Secretary said, and the Canadian note and the American reply is to be published after the reply has been delivered to the Canadian Legation. The French Embassy, which became involved in the case after it was found that the seaman who lost his life in the sinking of the vessel was French, has received no instructions from the Paris Government on the case. The Embassy cabled reports of the incident to the foreign office in Paris, but has not been directed to make any move. Totals 644 719 797 ST. BONAV'TURE.
