MADE IN Rucker, a stringy lean lad who LONDON volk Taking advantage of the sunshine and spring-like weather, hundreds of golfers shook the moth balls out of their links' hardware and hustled out to their favorite layout yesterday.

Most of the courses had not planned to open at least officially until next Saturday or later, but the niblickers have been stall-walking for several days. Sunday sunshine, not official okeh, is what the golfers have been awaiting and when the sun arrived the urge was too great to suppress. The niblickers found the links far advanced for this time of the year, and, while not conductive of low scoring, they served as the great outdoors and permitted the unlimbcring of old swings and the testing of new ones. Scores of niblickers acquired their initial hand blisters and aching muscles at Avon Fields and California, the two municipal courses, and Sharon Woods, the county links. Hyde Park, Terrace Park, Wyoming, and Kenwood were scarred for the first time this season as niblickers sliced out divots.

Today there should be an epidemic of sore muscles and a rush for the rubbing liniment. When it came time to discuss the proposed change in the interclub team play championship at a recent meeting of the Golfers' League there was some objection to the new system offered and action was deferred. Two systems have been tried and have proven unsuccessful. Originally the play was on a home-and-home elimination basis with play on Wednesday afternoons. This was a failure and the same system with play on Sundays was attempted last season.

This also was unsuccessful. The new proposal is for play to involve two four-man teams instead of one six-man team. One team to be known as the club team, with no age limit and boosting the four best golfers the club can muster; the otner team, on which all players must be over 50 years old or more, is to be known as the senior team. The schedule will involve five matches for each team in each division. All club teams will play at a selected course on a certain Wednesday and all senior teams will play at one course on another date.

Thus club teams of all member clubs will compete against all other club teams simultaneously. Ditto the senior teams. Before the match starts, teams will designate their number 1 and 2 players and number 3 and 4 players. Individual results will be computed at the end of each match by matching cards. Some of the delegates disapproved the proposed change because play will be on a week day instead of Sunday.

Since there are only five matches for each team during the entire season there should be no reason why each club should not be able to have four good golfers on hand on a designated day. In a club team match, each club may not be able to have its four best niblickers present, but each should be able to have four good golfers present, nevertheless. The same for the senior group. If a club so desires it need not enter a team in but one division. 1 England CHOICE ENTRIES AND WEIGHTS ll'W less, and their histories back through the years offer a strange parallel, at least on the diamond.

Waner is a thin, wan, sad-looking individual with drooping figure and drooping eyelids so you can't tell whether he is just going to sleep or just waking up. There is something coldly impersonal about his mechanical playing, so much so that one day after he had hit two triples off Harry Eisen-stat, then pitching for Brooklyn, Eisenstat came into the clubhouse sputtering and fuming.

"It isn't that he hit two triples; I know he's a good hitter," he raged. "It's just that he hasn't looked at me yet. He doesn't know whether I was throwing light handed or left handed."
