Women's Editor Ukidh Grange Gives Third and Fourth Degrees to 31 The Uklnh Grange hnll was filled to capacity when members of the Grange hold their annual harvest feast recently. Preceding the meeting in which new members were given the third and fourth degrees of the group, a turkey dinner with nil the trimmings was served. Tables were attractively decorated in a harvest theme. Given the dogices were 25 members from Ukiah and si.x from Little Lake Grange in Willits.

Those receiving the honors from Uklnh were Ollilic Tann, Mr. and Mrs. Chamber, Mr. and Mrs. Howard McGuffin, Mr.

and Mrs. Rebekahs Observe Past Noble Grancls Night at Meeting Cornelln Rebokah No. Independent Order of Odd conducted past noble grands night, Monday when it met In the lOOF hall. Louella Hull, noble grand, presided at the session that honor qd Opal Burke, Evelyn Bickford, Irene Hamilton, Myrtle Oakley, Pearl Willhelm, Neltle Tolman, Frank Tolman, Chester Hnhn and Earl Biksen. It was reported the group's second oldest noble grand, Mrs.

Cecille Lobrce, died In San Francisco November 5. Death also took Walter David, a past presiding officer, it was said. It was announced Gertrude Nance and Kyra Edwards attended the installation of the Theta Rho club at Boonville. Two members were reported Simpson In the Santa Rosa Memorial hospital and Myrtle Sisk in the Ukiah Genrai hospital. Jean Lopez of the Lagunltas Lodge of Willits was a guest during the meeting.

Rachel Byers, youthful Ukiah Hawaiian dancer, entertained the members with four dance selections. Refreshments were served by Mary Smith, Kay Nbrgard, Lois McCabc and Mildred Ivey. Reginald Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Robert King, Dr.

The" Grange drill team performed during the ceremony and will perform again December 10 in Potter Valley when the Grange there con ducts degree work, it was an nounced. During the meeting Bee Gilgen, master here, reported on the recent state Grange convention held in Sacramento, which she attended as a delegate from Ukiah. The group also voted to support the United Christmas Effort by contributing $50 to it and by donating the proceeds from the silver march of to the area Yule project Members were also urged to observe December 1 as Safe Liriv ing Day.

JOURNAL photo by Barkley Methodist Christmas Tree Lane Bazaar December 2 Ukiah Invited to Fabric Show Soroptimists International of Ukiah have been invited to attend a miracle fabric show to be presented in the Pioneer company store Wednesday at 8 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Monsanto Chemical company. Jules Legiers Visit Mother Over Holiday Mr. and Mrs. Jules Legier of Areata spent the Thanksgiving day holiday with Mrs. Legior's mother, Mrs.

Amelia Pacini, 824 Cypress avenue, and family. At Areata Mr. Legier is enrolled at Humboldt State College while his wife Betty Is employed with the Owen Accounting Firm. Roberta Meredith Wed at Informa Church Ceremony Roberta Meredith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Roberta Meredith, 318 Jones street, and Bill Coston were married Sunday at a 5 p.m. ceremony in the First Presbyterian Church of Ukiah. Performing the Informal riles was the Rev. Robert C. Groves, pastor of the church.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. For the occasion she wore pale blue afternoon dress acceijted with white accessories and an orchid corsage. The matron of honor was the bride's twin sister, Mrs. Fred Willis, Healdsburg. Her dress was a green figured nylon afternoon outfit, complimented with white accessories.

The best man for the benedict was Roger Howard. Mrs. Meredith selected a Navy two-piece dress with Navy accessories. She wore a white carnation corsage as did the benedict's mother. She also chose to wear a Navy suit with pink accessories.

The couple is now at homo at the Rapp Apartments on Alice street. The nowlyweds are planning a honeymoon this week. The now Mrs. Coston attended Ukiah high school hero. Her husband was graduated by the high school here in 1953 and is employed at Masonite.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cor.lon, 741 South Oak street. Christmas Tree Lane, annual bazaar of the Woman's SoQiely of Christian Service of the Methodist church, will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday.

December 2 in the social rooms of the church. Rooms and hails of the church will be decorated in gay holiday colors to carry out the theme of the bazaar. Along the lane visitors will find gifts for pre-school children over which Mary Martha circle of the WSCS will The booth will bo known as Babes lo Toddlers. The room of Grace Circle will look like Santa's workshop with the many delightful toys on display. The next stop along the lane will be the Alpha and Doors Circles.

Members of Alpha circle will display lovely aprons and dishlowols and in their other booth will be an assortment of fancywork. Doers Circle will have a garden nook for those interested in garden equipment. In their novelty lioolh they are planning somellilng different this year. Shoppers will find many attractive iloms for Christmas gifts and for the, of the things on sale will be planters, TV trnys, ornaments, flower arrangements. Another booth that should bo of interest is the Candy Kitchen.

Here delicious candies made l)y men of the Mary Martha Circle will bo offered. Across tlie lane will lie found the Pantry Shelf, full of all kinds of good things lo oat. Pa- U'ons will want lo take home some of the deleclabio goodies lo treat their families to a change from the regular menu. Comes time lo oat, the luncheon room will be especially inviting. Tables will be decorated in holiday motif and the delicious food will be served by members of Grace Circle.

There will be a variety of foods from which to choose. To add to the festive air of Christmas Tree Lane will be Yule carols played throughout the day. To climax the day's shopping excursion will be a short program at 8 p.m. lo bo given in the social hall of the church. Tlio entertainment will be called Christmas Around the World.

Refreshments will be served to those wanting them. Chairmen in charge of the all-day event are Mrs. Earl Pyzer and Mrs. Imogeno Johnston, bazaar chairmen; Mrs. M.E.

Methodist Grace Circle Ready With Toy Booth Grace Circle of the Methodist church has completed plans for its Toyland booth at the bazaar of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church. Final preparations were made when the circle met at the home of Mrs.

Frank Johnson, last week. During the meeting Mrs. W. A German spoke on the Pomo Indi ans, relating stories she had heard from a rnnciieria resident, and rend portions of a book written by her grandfather on early Indian life in the Ukiah area. Devotions were led by Mrs.

Birdie Becker on the Thanksgiving theme. Hostesses, in addition to Mrs. Johnson, were Mrs. Albert Green and Mrs. Harold Hoover.

to Some 50 voices from the choirs pt the Methodist and First Christian Churches will present a Christmas program December 18 at 7:30 p.m. In the Methodist church. During the candlelight program there will be selections of men's and women's choruses, complete choir numbers, and parts from Handel's Messiah ns well as Bach Chorales. Some of the pieces will also bo accompanied by a small string orchestra, it has been announced. Choir directors are Dunne Thompson, Methodist, and Allan Toedter.

First Christian. Ukiahans who would like to participate in the singing have been asked to notify the directors. The Christian church choir meets each Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. In the social hall of the church, while the Methodist group practices Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. In the church choir loft.

and Mrs, Thomas Horsloy have a visitor from Los Angeles in their homo on Poulos Court. She is Mrs. Miriam Bates, who is the mother of Mrs. Horsley. Mrs.

Bales is recuperating from a serious automobile accident and will re main with her daughter until completely recovered. irst Daughter Joins ay Musgrove Family It's a daughter, the first, for the Ray Musgrovcs of Ukiah. Tlie baby was born Fi'idny at 3 a.m. in the Ukinli General Hospital and has been named Marleno Adelo. The oungsler woighetl five jjounds twelve ounces.

When she arrives home she will be greeted by brothers Thomas, 3, and Clayton, Her grandparonls, and Mrs. C. Musgrove and and Mrs. Sidney Finch, live in St. Hcleria.

Mary Cunningham, Ukiahan who has been living overseas for some years. Mrs. Cunningham has twin daughters who live in Europe. She is the sister of Judge Halo McCowen, a Superior Court judge here. She had covered some 3500 miles from North Wales to and was planning to leave the following day for Tangiers, Spanish Morocco in Africa, sjio wrote.

Redwood Valley PTA Plans Christmas Event Redwood Valley parents and teachers were treated to a social studies classroom demonstration by eighth grade students when the Redwood Valley Parent Teacher association met last Friday night for its Novemt)er meeting. A classroom setting was accomplished with the arrangement of the students' desks In a typical classroom unit within the auditorium, with the teacher, Mrs. Patricia Bollinger, presiding at her desk. The children entered gaily into the spirit of the class procedure as did the teacher with good natured horseplay relating to gum paper airplanes and other distractions.

Despite these interludes, the topic under discussion was parliamentary procedure, developed interest for student and audience alike, as the class moved through the routine of a class election after review of historical beginnings in early day English parliament procedures. Plans were outlined during the business meeting for the Christmas festivities at the school, and the annual gift to the children from the PTA unit. The December Christmas program for the unit will feature a presentation of the musical version of Dickens' Christmas Carol, in which more than 60 children will participate under direction of Briar McNeill, school music head. The Christmas presentation will be a featured two evenings, December IG and 17 in order so that all parents and unit members may attend. Mrs.

John Johnson, president' of the unit, presided at the session, at the conclusion of which refreshments were served by first grade mothers. Mrs. Thomas Horsley was given a surprise birthday party recently at her home, 107 Poulos Court, by a group of friends and neighbor.s.
