acted illegally in disposing of 52 bath tubs and wall panels in 1975 The tubs and panels were con fiscated from a Mr Kyle Campbell in Hampton and were stolen from Vacuum ormed Products Ash burn Georgia The Assistant District Attorney says that Vaccum ormed Products gave him the authority to dispose of the stolen products In a letter to Crockett from Vaccum ormed Products it stated use this letter as your authority to dispose of the tubs and wall panels that were confiscated when Mr Kyle Campbell was arrested As you know Vaccum ormed Products has closed and has no further use in those units Sheriff Papantoniou pointed out that Crockett gave two of the tubs to a school teacher and the remaining 50 were given to former Sheriff Harry Buckles and his deputy Jerry Weaver who is now Sessions Judge In a letter to the sheriff from Crockett dated March 13 1981 Crockett said that the sheriff had commuinicated through the news media that Crockett had stolen bathtubs in his home allegation is totally and completely Crockett contends that the letter gave him the authority to dispose of the tubs and he gave two to a General Building and Trades Class teacher and Jerry Weaver was given the rest for providing storage for the tubs after their seizure until final disposition of the case Sheriff Papantoniou contends that Crockett is a servant of the courts and he had no right to give any of the bathtubs away to the statue the bathtubs had to come back to the sheriffs office and be placed in public auction and the proceeds of the sale would go into the general fund so the public could benefit and not just two or three stated Sheriff Papantoniou The sheriff pointed out that this is a state law and quoted Public Acts 1978 Chapter 561 property'held for the owner by any court including a federal court public corporation public authority or agency or public officer of this state or a political subdivision thereof that has remained unclaimed by the owner for more than
