They include a Cheboygan County appeal by a man accused of operating a snowmobile under the influence of liquor and an Oakland County case in which an unconscious suspect was arrested at home without a warrant after he allegedly left the scene of an accident. "Those were hard times, but he was a great father," Tormeno said.

"His family was everything to him, and he took care of us. He took us to the zoo and to parks." After retiring at age 67, Mr. Galia spent most days fishing in the Detroit River and around New Baltimore. "He liked bluegill, but he also caught some big fish, like pike," Tormeno said. "I know they were big because I had to help clean them." A World War I Army veteran, Mr.

Galia was a member of the American Legion. He also belonged to the Detroit Metropolitan Fruit Vendors Association, which gave a 50-year service award to him in 1982. His wife, Josephine, died in 1984, and his only son, Frank, died three years later. Besides his daughter, Mary Tormeno, he is survived by five daughters, Pauline Bommarito, Joanne Milowe, Rose Bommarito, Mae Zannitti and Earmeline Martin; 24 grandchildren; 52 great -grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren. The "-ist" ending means "a person who does," and in this case "tour" means "to travel." The word "tour" came from the Latin, tornus, to polish or round off, and moved into French as tor and tourn, where it meant "a turn, round, circuit, trick or feat." In the 1600s, the word meant "to. travel around" or "make a trip or voyage." The word came into English in the 17th century.

The scheme included cash and rent payments to Bogoff.

He was disbarred in 1983 and served one year of a two-year federal prison term. In Michigan, unlike some other states, disbarment is not permanent and lawyers can seek readmission to the bar after five years of "exemplary conduct."
