After several days of X-rays and tests, his ailment was diagnosed as a thyroid infection. Mr. and Mrs. David Medema of Rock Rapids became the parents of their third child, a 7 pound, 12 oz. boy on Nov. 20. Little Brett David has a sister, Kelie, 4, and a brother, Blayne, 2. Upper Des Moines—11 Garden Club, Lakota, Sees Unusual Tree Members of the Blue Jay Garden club met at the Lakota City hall for the Interesting demonstration of a topiary centerpiece decoration given by Viola Huettner. It was mde using egg cartons, artificial fruit and pine sprigs and stuck into styrofoam balls which were fastened into a dowel. It was in the form of a tree. During the business program, they decided to sing Christmas carols for the residents at the Hurt Rest Home next Tuesday, and each girl will bring homemade candy and cookies to be distributed. Roll call was answered by the members by "Christmas At Our House." Installation of officers was performed with these new officers put in charge: President, Gloria JeanGeilen- feld; vice-pres., Emma Ukena; secretary, Marcia Paulsen; assistant sec'y, Connie Lewis; treasurer, Cindy Thompaon; Reporter, Becky Kollasch.
