Lillian Spencer Dies Mrs. Lillian Spencer, 88-year-old native of Del Rio, died Sunday at 7:05 p.m. in a local hospital after a very brief illness. Mrs. Spencer resided at 108 E.

2nd St. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at noon today at the Doran-Vansau Funeral Home. Mrs. Spencer was bom in Del Rio Nov. 3, 1885, the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Marion Pafford and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Randolph Pafford, who came to Texas from North Carolina in 1853 and who moved to Del Rio in 1866. Her grandfather was one of the three men who were early settlers and who launched the digging of the irrigation canals.

He built his home here in 1874, the lumber being hauled here by ox cart from the Texas coast. Mrs. Spencer was reared here and attended local schools. She participated in the celebration that marked the centennial of the irrigation ditches, the river pageant sponsored by Val Verde Historical Survey Committee. Survivors include her son, T.A.

Spencer Jr. of Corpus Christi; her daughters, Mrs. Lillian Johnson of California and Mrs. Elva Stevens of Del Rio; a brother, Levin Pafford of Tuscon, and a sister, Mrs. Florence Cline of Prescott, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Those items reportedly wen taken between 4:40 p.m. Saturday and 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The property taken was valued at about $1,100. Larry Horn of 102 Edwards reported the theft of a color television set from his pickup truck.

He told police the truck had been parked on the 500 block of North Broadview about 4:30 p.m. Saturday and that he discovered the set missing early Sunday. David Mendez, of Laughlin Air Force Base, and Robert Bailey and Michael Elder, all 19 years old, wery injured shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday in a two-car collision near the 1000 block of Avenue F. Mendez was driver of a car which was in collision with an auto being driven by Mercy Leon Rendon, 20, of 110 Alta Vista Dr.

Bailey and Elder reportedly were passengers in the Rendon vehicle. Police reports indicate Mendez was exceeding "safe speed" when the Rendon auto changed lanes and was struck in the rear. Mendez was arrested for drunk in auto and exceeding safe speed, according to reports. Jose Luis Vargas, of Box 17 U.S. Highway 90 East, was injured in a one-car accident at about 3:10 today.
