VA 6692. Apartments, Unfurnished -For Rent 10 Richard Himber not for some time employed any regular staff musicians. As a result the station was to pick up for network release band music originating in Cincinnati. This meant remote pickups of dance bands, as well as those affiliated with big-time broadcasts which visited Cincinnati, were forbidden. When the Kate Smith program was broadcast from here, for instance, WCKY broadcast it through the usual channels all the way from New York.

The broadcast itself was fed to New York through WLW lines. A similar situation existed when the Bob Hawk's "Take It or Leave It" program was broadcast from Cincinnati. The music for this originated out of town, while the quiz part was fed directly to New York, WCKY getting the program over network lines from that city. AUTO HITS PARKED CAR. mean the Jack, Doc, and Reggie program." That's how well the show has established itself. Right from the time stanza first went on the air, mail began pouring in from listeners in all walks of life- college professors, grade school kids, college girls in convent schools, policemen, businessmen, government officials, both domestic and foreign and SO on along the line to the butcher, baker, and candlestick maker. Once a plot was laid in the jungle of a Central American republic. Its officials must have been listening, because there came a protest from them. There was no "jungle" in that particular republic, the complaint stated.

In fact, nation was highly civilized. So the jungle was shifted to the general direcion of the tropics, and the republic's officials went on enjoying their weekly fare of Morse mysteries, which, in fact, are not SO much mysteries as adventures. There are many other indications of how extensive is the listening audience of "I Love a Mystery." A killer dying on the gallows said he was happy because the warden had granted his last request-to hear an episode of the "mystery," and it turned out to be the concluding one of a series. Police in one city found three puppies. Adopting them, the cops, named them Jack, Doc, and Reggie.

Kids in another city invented a new game based upon the adventures of the three comrades. They called it Jack, Doc, and Reggie. The principals in the cast fit the parts like the proverbial glove. Jack, Jack Packard, is Michael Raffetto, a veteran stage and radio actor who gave up Blackstone for grease paint and the spotlight. Doc, Doc Long, is Bart Yarborough, a handsome, curly-haired actor who comes by Doc's Texan drawl naturally.

If Reggie sounds British to you, there's a good reason for it. Reggie York is played by Walter Paterson, British native and naturalized American citizen. Coincident with the beginning of their thirteenth year in radio, Al Clauser and his Oklahoma Outlaws, cowboy-hillbilly musical aggregation, will make their debut on WCKY this morning. They will be heard in the "Hot Coffee" broadcast every week day morning from 6 to 6:45 o'clock and from 3:45 to 4 o'clock every Monday through Friday afternoon They will be heard also in a thirtyminute broadcast on Saturday nights. Employment of group automatically clears the difficulties WCKY has had with the Musicians Union.
