Warnie Davis of Del Rio, was selected to attend Southwestern Life Insurance Company's fourth Youth Leadership Institute held this weekend in Dallas. Davis is a sophomore at Texas University where he holds membership in Phi Eta Sigma, freshman men's scholastic fraternity. He was one of five students chosen by school administrators to attend the institute because of their scholastic standing and demonstrated leadership potential. Held Friday, Saturday and today the institute is acquainting participants with leadership theories and techniques based on proven industrial management concepts. Although tailored specifically to fit campus circumstances, the ideas presented will be applicable in many life situations and should therefore be of benefit long after the participants leave their respective campuses.

Southwestern Life provided scholarships covering all expenses except transportation to and from Dallas. Forty-two schools in five states were invited to send participants. The institute originated in 1970 as an effort by Southwestern Life to prepare promising young leaders for more effective roles in society, thereby demonstrating the company's commitment to a better life for people everywhere. Response on the part of participants was so favorable and has continued to be so favorable that the company has repeated the institute each year. Training was again directed by Robert T.

(Sonny) Davis, Elsa Flores Scholastic Honor i I a Flores, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymundo N. Flores of 502 Avenue in Del Rio, has been invited to become a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, national honorary scholastic organization for freshman women at the University of Texas in Austin. The initiation ceremony will be held April 19 at 5 p.m.

on the campus with a banquet in the Main Ballroom of the Texas Union for newly initiated members of Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma, national honorary scholastic organization for men, and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Flores were invited to the initiation and dinner by Lisa Olsen, chapter president of Alpha Lambda Delta. president of Austin-based National Leadership Methods. Individual participation is being emphasized, with small-group exercises planned so that the students discover for themselves the qualities of successful leadership.
