County Career Day, Sentral High Nov. 4 County- wide Career Day will ho held Nov. 4 at'Sentral high school. The program will start at 1 J:15 with music for 15 minutes. At 9:30, the invocation will be offered by Rev. Russell Eldrictee of the Methodist church, Fenton. A. M. Quintard, county superintendent of schools, will deliver the introduction of the speaker at 9:45 a. m. Featured speaker will be Dr. Ray Bryan, head of the department of education at Iowa State University at Ames, who will speak on "Choosing a Career." The first conference period will start at 10:30. The second conference period will begin at 12:45 and the third and final conference period will start at 1:35. Don Hemmingsen, Algona, liason officer for tho Air Force ! S NOTICE Sportsmen Academy at Colorado Spring, Colo., will be one of the conference speakers. Others will Include representatives from State College of Iowa at Cedar Falls, State University of Iowa at Ames and Mankato Commercial College at Mankato. Members of junior classes in senior high school from the county and adjacent towns are invited to attend. Car Fire A car owned by Richard Thul, Algona, sustained unestimated damage when fire engulfed the engine at noon Friday at 502 So. Harlan street. Mr. Thul was on the way to his home at 703 So. Harlan at the time. A fuel filter fell off and gasoline was sprayed on the engine and ignited by the distributor. Firemen were called to extinguish the blaze. Bond Sales F. L. McMahon, Algona, volunteer county chairman, reported that sales of United States savings bonds In Kossuth county during September were $44,743, boosting the nine-month total to $622,183 for 56 percent of its 1965 quota. I. Lichter, Burt. The wedding is planned for Nov. 26 at St. Cecelia's church, Algona. Former Algona Man Passes, Sioux City Funeral services for Dr. Forest W. Cairy, 78, Sioux City veterinarian who died Wednes- day, were held at 11 a. m. Saturday at Grace Methodist church there. He was born at Armstrong and graduated from Iowa State University in 1913. He was founder of a serum company at Sioux City. He lived in Algona before moving to Sioux City. Survivors include a son, three daughters, a sister, two brothers, 11 grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. Bancroft Girl Injured When Auto Rolls A 17-year-old Bancroft girl Is In Holy Family hospital at Estherville with severe injuries suffered at 7 p. m. Wednesday in a one-car accident near Burt. Judith Wilhelmi, daughter of the Harold Wilhelmis, was driving alone in a car owned by her brother Tom when the car went out of control on old Highway 169 north of Burt. The car reportedly missed a curve and hit a steep embankment where it was said to have rolled end- over end. The Kirl suffered severe lacerations on the left thigh and leg, head Injuries and abrasions, She was reported to be in satisfactory condition. The car, a late model Chevrolet, was reported to be extensively damaged. The accident was investigated by a member of the highway patrol. Pol** Alarm It was a false alarm when the fire whistle sounded at 4:15a.m. Sunday. The error was discovered before the equipment left the fire station. There was a fire at Lakota, and the call was mistakenly placed to the Algona department.
