Asbury Respus Executed in North Carolina (01/08/1932)

Asbury Respus, a serial killer, was executed in North Carolina's electric chair on January 8, 1932, for the murder of 9-year-old Vera Leonard. He confessed to the murders of at least 8 victims; the day before his execution, he told reporters, "I think I killed nine." He blamed the murders on "spells" that would make him "funny in the head" and urge him to kill. This article mentions his fourth murder of Ed Wynne, a black man, for which he was sentenced to 15 years.
