Mrs. Lyle Bollman and children and Mrs. Edna Bollman went to Rochester, Minnesota. Sunday to visit Lyle. He is getting along fine and expects to come home some time this week. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Brown and family and Mr. and Mrs. Maniord Stegen and family of Waterloo, spent the weekend at the Hans Stegen home. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kamin spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. Kalke in Floyd. Charles Letchford' came home from El Paso, Texas. Saturday, August 15, and has started working for George Walters of Luana as a truck driver. Mr. and Mrs. Lester VanWey and family went to Waterloo Sunday for a visit with Mrs. Emma Peck and daughter? Lepha. Mrs. Glenn Letchford accompanied them as far as Oelwein and visited her mother, Mrs. M. J. Evert. Leo Birdsell attended a Dairy land Power Cooperative meeting j in La Crosse, last Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Patulla. Antonette Antonette and Hal left Monday morning morning for their home in Wilmette, Illinois, after a visit since Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo j Birdsell. Mr. and Mrs. Birdsell and Mrs. Maggie Birdsell accom panied them as far as Cassville, j Wisconsin, where they enjoyed a picnic dinner and a tour of the Stoneman Steam Generating Plant! which is an R. E. A. project. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Blumhagen of I Postville and Mrs. Alta Reeves and son Kenneth of Castalia were Sun day afternoon callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Harris. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Meeker and family of Cedar Rapids came j Monday to spend a few days of their vacation at the Ashley La Velle home. Miss Elizabeth Welch of Decorah J will be the new teacher in the upper grades room this year due to the illness of Miss Yarwood. Mrs. Verna Schroeder will have charge of the primary room. Mrs. Beverly Beverly Peck will teach at the Birdsell school, Mrs. Ruth Stegen at the McKay McKay school and Miss Thelma Barker Barker will return to Waterville Consolidated Consolidated School. Mrs. Harley Thompson started Monday at the Rosa district school. Mrs. Paul Behn and Mrs. Orlan do Ask were co-hostesses at the wedding shower given for Jeannine Harris by Adaline Pfiester at the Fred Pfiester home near Postville Saturday evening, August 22. Mrs. Clarence Reiser and daugh ters, Genie and Nancy, of Prairie du Chien were Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Ashley La Velle. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin VanWey, Joe Kent, Carl and George, spent from Thursday to Monday at the home of Mrs. Maude Myren and returned to their home in Ralston, Nebraska. A picnic dinner was enjoyed in their honor on Sunday at the Myren home. Those attending were: Mr and Mrs. Roland Peck and family, Mr. and Mrs. Upton Peck and family, family, 'Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Allen and family, Mrs. Miner VanWey and Mrs. Daisy Henderschott. Mrs. Daisy Henderschott returned returned from a trip to Waterloo where she visited relatives. She also went to Kansas for a visit with the Hen­ derschott relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John Schutta attended attended the wedding of her cousin, Ebert Ewing to LaVon Kugel on Sunday, August 23, at the Zion Church in Waukon. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Walby, Jana and Mary Sue, and Mr. and Mrs. Alwin Walby went to Rochester, Minnesota, Sunday, where they en joyed a picnic dinner at Silver Lake Park with relatives from St Paul, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs, Walter Kneeskern and Mr. and Mrs. Eaton Kneeskern of Decorah also attended. The gathering was in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Baalson of Seattle, Washington, who were visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kneeskern in Decorah. The Walby's also visited Lyle Bollman at a hotel where he has been staying since leaving the hospital. Mrs. Hazel Brandt and Mrs. Maggie Birdsell will be hostesses for the willing workers meeting at the church here this week, Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Esther Brandt will have charge of program program and devotions. The topic will be "To be Good Citizens." Every one is welcome to attend. WOUNDED Nine year old Carol Asfahl of near Riceville was accidentially shot in the foot recently.
