Pvt. Potter Assigned To Japanese Island WITH THE EIGHTH ARMY 7N JAPAN- Pvt. Edwin J. Potter, of Mr. a/id Mrs. John E. Potter of 10 Marshall Avenue, Pltlsfleld, Mass., was recently assigned to the 63d Field Artillery Battalion, a unit of the 24th Infantry Division which Is now occupying the Island of Kyushu, Japan. Potter entered the Army In July, 1946, at Fort Banks, Mass. After completing eight weeks' basic training at Fort Bragg, N.C., he was sent to Japan. He arrived at the 63d Artillery Battalion in December to take an additional five weeks' advanced training. All replacements coming coming Into Ilia Army are required complete a total of 13 weeks' training. training. He is a graduate of Plttsfleld High School.
