Hammaker. husband of the former Miss Frances Redfern, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob C Hammaker, all of 3307 Sunny - side avenue, Progress, has been declared dead by the War De partment, according to notifica tion received by the family Saturday. Saturday. He was reported missing in action action March 5, 1944, while on a bombing mission over New Brit ain, and . the War Department wrote that he was considered dead as of that date. SSgt. Hammaker, who had been in the Air Corps since May 12, 1942, was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, and an Oak Leaf Cluster to the Air Medal.
