Memory Lane By I. C. BRENNER Carmel Myers, back In her Beverly Beverly Hills home after a two month's' stay in New York City, is that rare thing, n perfectly happy person. And why not? She has a successful successful movie career behind her, a devoted husband iind adored child, "Sonny," and, with the further development development of her singing vnlce, a bright future to look forward to. The seductive star of such pictures pictures as "Ben Hur" is unaffectedly herself, and interested in many things: television, song-writing, her homo and family, books and people. This languorous lady with the shadowy hazel eyes and the frank smile, who was starred by Un'.ver- sal when she was 15, married J. G. Kornblum in 1019 when she was playing on Broadway In "The Magic Melody," a musical show. Carmel then retired for a while, returning to the screen after their divorce in 1022. Carmel's favorite role was, perhaps, perhaps, Iris in "Ben Hur," with the little Jewish girl in "Four Walls" a close second. Remember her in "Where the Heart Lies" and "Tel It to the Marines"? Carmel's more recent activities include appearances in "Death Takes a Holiday," the play, in Los Angeles, "The Lady Surrenders,' "The Broadway Scandal in 1931,' and "Svengali." She was costarrec with Douglas Fairbanks Jr as the prima donna In "The Careless Age.' Last summer Carmel played the Helen Morgan part in "Show Boat,' which was wildly successful during its run in Los Angeles, playing three shows a day. Four times a guest star on the Rudy Vallee hour in one year, am appearing on many other programs Carmel likes radio work.
