Woman, Children Are Hit by Car Trio Hurled to Pavement in North Scranton Nelson White, Driver, Arrested While crossing the 1700 - b!ock of North Main avenue, near Oak street, last night shortly after 8 o'clock. Miss Sarah Evans, 1719 North Main avenue, and her two grandnleces. Peggy McDonnell, 11. and Martha McDonnell, 7, of the same address, were run down by an automobile driven by Nelson White, 215 Hill street. All three were thrown to the pave ment and only the fact that the auto mobile was moving slowly saved them from serious injuries. They received treatment at the office of Dr. P. A. Carroll and Miss Evans was removed to the State hospital. Later was taken to the West Side hc:pital. She is suffering from bruises of the body, a fracture of the. left shoulder, and a possible fracture of the left leg. The children received body bruises. White was arrested - by Sergeant John L. Lewis, of the North Scranton precinct, on charges of assault and battery with a motor vehicle. He furnished $500 bail before Alderman Thomas Floyd for a hearing in police court today. Mrs.
