Feabody Institute. There will be held a State Normal In- Lcb at Ureeneville, beginning JUon One July 8, andcontinuing four weeks, free to all teachers in Tennessee who will attend. Capt. C. S. Douglass, a life long teacher and superintendent of the Gallatin city schools, has been selected as conductor of the Institute and will be assisted by Prof. A. D. Whar ton of the Nashville High School, L. S. London, supt. of the Bristol City Schools and W. W. Mattney, superin tendent City Schools, Greenoville. Instructors have been selected be cause of their ability, experience and success as teachers. This is a perma nent summer school of methods for teachers. There will be required sys tematic work in tho theory and practice of teaching, and methods will be illustrated.' The work of this Institute will include a thorough, practical teaching and illustration of all subjects embrac ed in the Trimary and Secondary bourse, respectively, mis worn is done by authority of the state, and un der the supervision of tho State Super intendent. The oonductor will manage the Insti tute, assign instructors and teachers their work, and determine their order, the time of meeting and number of hours consumed daily.
