Capt. Eli Bowen, the only legless man in the world with feet protruding from his hips, is dead. For 50 years or more he had been heralded as one of the greatest living "freaks" and his fame spread to every corner of the globe. Starred by Barnum, Bowen collected a large share of circus fan applause and gold as well. Death came yesterday while the aged man lay on his sick bed in the quarters of the Dreamland Circus at Coney Island. He had been suffering from pleurisy.
