ABWA honors Women of the Year Mrs. Ruby Bridges, who was named Woman of the Year by the Bluebonnet Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Assn. will be honored along with other ABWA 1974 Women of the Year during the ABWA national convention to be held October 18-20 in Denver, Colo. Annually, each ABWA chapter selects one of its members for this award. Selection is based on the member's achievement in her chosen field of business, education, participation In community activities and character. Mrs. Bridges will represent the Bluebonnet Charter Chapter in competition for the "American Business Women of the Year" award. She will attend attend a luncheon for the 1974 chapter Women of the Year Oct. 18, following the presentation of "Women of the Year" citations. A graduate of Lake Village Arkansas High School, Mrs. Bridges attended Warner Brown School of Nursing, is a graduate of Surgical Tech School and attended Howard Payne College. She worked in surgery at the Methodist Hospital in Lubbock and as private surgical nurse before moving to Brownwood. She is now office manager for the Central Texas Insurance Agency. Her husband, Arlie, is owner of the business. Mrs. Bridges has been an active member of the Bluebonnet Charter Chapter of ABWA since 1971 with a perfect attendance. She has served as president, recording secretary, has been active on various chapter committees and presently is scrapbook chairman. chairman. She attended the district meeting and national convention convention in 1973 and the regional meeting in March, 1974. She and her husband have a MRS. RUBY BRIDGES ... Woman of the Year married daughter, Elizabeth Firth, and a son, Chipper. She a member of the Baptist church. She is "outstanding her occupation and has a range of interest."
