Cornelius Meehan, of No. 146 French street, shot his wife this morning because, because, it is said, she asked for money with which to buy Christmas presents for th children. Meehan said he would give her the money, and turned to a trunk as though he intended to get It. When he faced about with a revolver in his hand, his wife fled in terror, followed followed closely by Meehan.
