Delphine Kathryn Undem was born to Martin and Eva Farrell Undem on November 15, 1925 in McHenry, ND. She grew up in Rogers, ND, graduated from Rogers High School, and earned a degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. She married Willis J. (Bill) Brakke in Sioux Falls, SD on J uly 16, 1949. They settled in Luverne, MN in 1950, a community that they loved and lived in for the rest of their lives. Del was a homemaker until 1968, when she began began employment as a social worker with the Rock County Welfare Department. Ultimately, she was responsible for adoption and foster care for Rock, Nobles, and Pipestone counties. She retired in 1987. She served on the boards of the Mary Jane Brown Home, the Developmental Achievement Center, and Share, and was involved in many community groups and activities. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, LCCW, Chapter DI of PEO, Sanford Pink Ladies, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed v olunteering, reading, bridge, and golf. She traveled extensively with her husband, Bill, until he passed away in 2002. Survivors include children David (Mary Anne Mason) Brakke, Harrisonburg, VA; Susan (Bill) Jeska, Minnetonka; T om (Sue) Brakke, Deephaven; and Linda (John) Zimmerman, Eden Prairie; ten grandchildren: Kristin, Martin, Peder, Anna, Crystal, Michael, Daniel, Ryan, Kate, and Abby; and one great- grandchild, Delphine. She is also survived by her siblings, Elaine Nevue, Roseburg, OR; Ione (Art) Anderson, Rogers, ND; Pat (Ken) Porter, Mandan, ND; Larry (Sis) Undem, Rogers, ND; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded preceded in death by her husband, husband, her parents, and her brother, Danny. Visitation will be at Dingmann Funeral Home, Luverne, on Thursday, J anuary 8, from 4:00 to 7:00. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 9, at 10:30, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Luverne. Memorials are preferred preferred to the Luverne Area Community Foundation, Good Samaritan Society - Luverne, or St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Delp hi ne Kathryn Brakke
