HERMAN F. SPITZ Of 6100 California avenue, died at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning in Mercy hospital where he had been a patient since April 24. Mr. Spitz was born in Hollidaysburg Nov. 2, 1882, a son of Henry and Anna (Merrick) Spitz and on Aug. 25. 1904, married Miss Catherine Teufel. He was a retired machinist of the steel car shop, Altoona works, retiring March 16, 1945, after almost 37 years of service. Mr. Spitz was known to his friends as Harry and served as Republican county committeeman for Allegheny township. Surviving are his wife, six children, Herman E. of Carlisle; Walter A., of Washington, D. C; Mrs. Erma A. Keegan of Atlantic Highlands, N. Y.; Ralph W. and Mrs. Ruth G. Weaver, both of the city; nine grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Minnie Cassidy of Akron, O.; Henry J. Spitz and Mrs. Mimie Zierer of the city. He was a member of the Fifty-eighth Street Methodist church, the Eagles, P. O. S. of A. and the Canan Station Volunteer Fire company. Friends may call at the John P. Lafferty funeral home after 7 o'clock Wednesday evening.
