Rose Marie Bihl Helps Crown Statue of BVM
i CROWNS STATUE OF BLESSED VIRGIN IN ST. FRANCIS CHURCH Miss Margaret Barry, of the? Blessed Virgin's Sodality, crowned the statue of the Blessed - Virgin with a wreath of white roses at the annual May festival last night In St. Francis' Catholic Church, the! Rev. Joseph R. Murphy, pastor. The church was filled to capacity. The wreath was carried by Miss Barry, attired aa a bride, to the Blessed Virgin's altar where she placed it on the statue. Miss Barry was attended bv eisrhS bridesmaids, Mary Culhane, Jose - pnine Hetrick, Mane Hoffman, Betty Schell, Rita McNeil, Sclyn Martin, Dorothy storm and Marie Yestadt. They were attired In gowns of white organdie and large toiue hats, and whose bouquets of pmK roses were arranged at tne loot) of the statue. The flower girls were Gwendolyn Milbourne, Alda Gian - bastian, Rose Marie Bihl and Elvira Elvira Moyer. Preceding the crowning crowning was a procession by members of the sodality of the church, Twenty - eight new members were received at a reception which followed followed the service. The Rev. Roy Keffer, pastor of the Church of Little Flower, New Cumberland, explained the Catholic veneration of Mary, the Mother of God, and the crowning of the statue statue as a figure of devotion to her. Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament was offered by the Rev. John Chagnon, St. Francis Church, ioiiowing the sermon.
