About five o'clock in the m o r n i n g the fire was discovered. The ringine* of bolls aud the cry of lire created a first-class excite ment, which soon brought a number of persons to the pU. r .!he prisoners by this titne were nearly euffoca-ed, but were let out by the jailor Jas soon as he thought there waa sufficient force present to guard them--two of them, however, mads thtir escapo and are still at l^rge.
