At tho City Council meeting last ex-cnlng, ex-cnlng, ex-cnlng, what fs believed to be the beginning of the prusade sgainst the "red light district" was started, when the Council upon motion, decided that a notorious resort of immoral character character must be forever closed on Clay Street, Just a stone's throw from one of the city's leading banks, and within within view of young ladles, who work for their honest living in neighborhood neighborhood stores and at the Newspaper Union. The stamp of condemnation upon this place, brought forth the agitation of moving others of a smaller smaller character in very much the same locality, and this It Is believed will get into the entire "district" which is situated within three or four block:?. Alderman Harding in Impassioned address address to the Council said: "Mayor Hayes and gentlemen, when it comes to voting upon any petition, presented presented by good citizens, to remove evil ones, and when it comes to encroaching encroaching upon the "red light district" district" in order to make room for the city's business enterprises, then I shall always vote for the good citizens, citizens, and for the progress and welfare welfare of our community." There is a great deal of comment on the streets, and the result will be watched with Interest, as a number of landlords, landlords, who have reaped wealth from this source of tenants, will suffer greatly, should this crusade become sweeping and general. i
