I lleht- Union-town, Scheffler Takes Ascot Auto Chase Bill SchefTler of Glendale out finished a field of 14 big car race drivers to win yesterday's 50-lap main event at Ascot Speedway in 24m. 20s. Van Edwards, Belvedere, finished second; Bo Bo- shion, Oakland, third; Tex Peterson, Pasadena, fourth; Tex Sanders, Ft. Worth, Tex., fifth. Tex Peterson and Ralo Jack pre-race favorites, both spun out of contention, although Peterson managed to - get running again and make up enough distance to wind up fourth. Bo Boshion defeated Tex Sanders in a three-lap North vs. South match race in lm. 25.r0s., and Peterson nosed out Jack by inches in a 10-lap heat thriller In 4m. 36.60s. Other heat races were won by Ed Barnett, five taps In 2m. 24s and by Van Edwards, six laps in 2m. 48.10s.
