Infant Girl Found Dead In Her Bed BATAVIA - A 5-month-old girl being cared for by her grandmother while her parents were away was found dead in her crib about 9 a.m. yesterday. The child, Billy Jo Smith, died of asphyxiation when food moved from the stomach into bronchial tubes, Dr. Dom-inick A. Cultrara, Genesee County Coroner, said after the autopsy yesterday afternoon. The infant was the youngest of four children of Cecil and Mary Ann Smith of 308 Washington Ave., sheriff's investigators said. Deputies said the parents bad gone to Pittsburgh, Pa., to operate a carnival concession. Efforts were being made yesterday to notify them. Mrs. Bonnie Byers of 8134 Bank St. Road, the child's grandmother, told officers the little girl appeared normal at feeding time at 3 a.m. When she arose later and found Billy Jo dead, she called an . ambulance. Genesee Memorial Hospital's ambulance responded. Mrs. Byers had been caring for Billy Jo and her sisters, 18-month-old Betty Jo and Barbara Ann Smith, 3, and Bonnie Sue Sharp, 7, since their parents' departure last Monday.
