Edm-" The New EDWARD L. HEDDEN, Collector of the Port of New York. Sir. Hendden' s life has been uneventful and possesses no extraordinary features of interest. He was born in New York in the year 1S28. In 1S59 he formed a connection with a shipping firm in the Empire City, and continued it until 1884, when the house was dissolved. During the whole time the firm employed no custom house brokers, and Mr. Hedden had charge of all the business of the partnership with the custom house. He is vice-president of the North River bank and.a director in the Niagara Fire and other insur ance companies. His father studied law under Alexander Hajailton and was the representative of New York city upon the occasion of the opening of the Erie canal.
