"Lady with a Parasol" By James McNeill Whistler 1834-1903

This is the advertisement for The Curtis Gallery and Library, November 27,1949. Dr. Paul N. Smith purchased the painting "Lady With a Parasol" by James McNeill Whistler. It came from the David Coral Thomson Collection. Taylor Curtis, the auctioneer told Dr. and Mrs. James S. Devine the painting came from Arabella Huntington's estate and it had come from the Huntington's Colton Mansion in San Francisco. It once was a much larger portrait paint- ing but was cut from it's frame as the fire approach
