James William Nist Laytonville resident James William Nist, 66, died at his home Monday, Feb. 28, 1991. A memorial service will be held at the Anker-Lucier Mortuary Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Jim Hill will officiate. Interment will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. Mr. Nist was bom in Pittsburgh on March 6,1924. He had lived in Laytonville since 1969 and was formerly a Leggett resident. Mr. Nist was a teacher for 37 years in Leggett. He taught at Leggett High School and had also taught classes for College of the Redwoods. He was a member of the Local Retired Teachers Association. Mr. Nist was a member of the American Legion of Leggett, a member of the Laytonville Water Board and the Willits Senior Center and had served in the U.S. Army during World War JJ. Mr. Nist is survived by his wife, Dorothy Nist of Laytonville; two daughters, Catherine Nist of Arizona and Nancy Butler and her husband, Bob, of Ukiah; a brother, Ronald Nist of Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren.
