OVC honors Mac, Oldham; Western places three on team Special to The Courier-Journal Courier-Journal Courier-Journal 1 NASHVILLE, Tenn. Western Ken-tucky's Ken-tucky's Ken-tucky's star 7-footer, 7-footer, 7-footer, Jim McDaniels, and its coach, Johnny Oldham, swept Player ;'. of the Year and Coach of the Year honors ' in the Ohio Valley Conference in the ' annual poll of coaches. The results of the poll were announced here yesterday. McDaniels, who joins fornjer Western standout Clem Haskins as a repeat winner, was a unanimous choice in the balloting. It was the fourth time in all that Oldham Oldham has been voted the top coaching honors. His championship team at Western this season was his sixth in the conference. McDaniels, Jerry Dunn and Jim Rose from Western were named to the all- all- conference team. Murray State placed Les Taylor and Jimmy Young and all other OVC teams, with the exception of East Tennessee, had one player honored. They were George Bryant of Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Jim Day of Morehead, Larry Noble of Austin Peay, Wayne Pack of Tennessee Tech and Ken Riley of Middle Tennessee. Underclassmen on the team are Bryant and Dunn, both juniors, and Pack and Taylor, who are sophomores. The unit includes the league's top four scordrs, paced by McDaniels with a 29.2 average going into today's NCAA Tournament game , with Jacksonville at South Bend, Ind. '
